Ponte Vecchio Bridge from the Hills

One of Florence, Italy's premier palces to visit.  The bridge was built back in medieval times, and unlike any other bridge you've been on, it actually still features a variety of shops on the bridge -- jewelers, art shops and souvenir stores.  It's considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and stunning bridges in the world.

Also just recently got an email from Schmap.com, a publisher for digital travel guides (computer and mobile) -- learning that this photo is on the short-list to appear in the 8th Edition of their Schmap Florence Guide.  A nice benefit of posting photoss to Flickr.  Check back here soon to learn more about Schmap and whether it'll be in the travel guide.

El Duomo - Cloudy Day in Florence

El Duomo (St. Maria del Fiore Cathedral) in Florence is pretty astounding sight, and even more impressive when you consider that they built this in the 11th Century, without any machinery or tools that we have today.  Rather, they used elephants to transport cement and other materials to the construction site.

Florence, View of the Arno

Ponte Vecchio gets all the hype in Florence (aka Firenze), as it damn well should.  But here's a different shot from a midway point between Vecchio and another peaceful looking bridge over the Arno River.  Florence is a beautiful city, quasi-full of American students, but still deserves a few day visit.
