TripIt = Easy Organized Trip Planning

TripIt_Easy_Organized_Trip_Pla.zip (624 KB)

TripIt is here because it simply makes your trip itinerary planning (life) easier and more organized.  Here's how it works:

You're planning to do a trip to Europe, Asia or maybe a weekend trip to Vegas.  You have about 10 different confirmation emails from your 2 flights, 4 different hotels, the rental car company, amtrak reservation, opentable dinner, shuttle bus and are feeling a bit overwhelmed.  All you want to think about is being in that ultimate travel paradise and not about the actual organization part.  Well fear not, because all you need to do is forward your confirmation emails as they come in, to Plans@TripIt.com and TripIt will start compiling your complete trip itinerary for you in an easy printable and shareable fashion.  They support more airline, hotel, car, partners than you can handle, so you don't have to even more about that.  And, no need to register on the site -- your first email already takes care of that. They've even created a free iPhone app in case you forget to print out this convenient little travel itinerary.  Happy Travels.

Improvesments: one area they need to overcome is getting people in the habit forward that quick email. Depending on feasibility/cost, they need to get their partners on board to promote a button of sorts on confirmation emails, to remind folks of TripIt's awesome service.

If you haven't booked your flight yet, then you should probably use Farecast (slash, he best flight booking tool out there).

Trapster iPhone App = No More Speeding Tickets

Trapster is a free mobile app that's bound to save you hundreds of dollars in traffic tickets.  If you're like me, there's a good chance you've gotten a speeding ticket before, and maybe had to pay $358 (or some other randomly large sum).  And maybe you even had to "waste" some time at traffic school.

This fine iPhone app knows where you're driving and where all the high caution areas (cops) will be, alerting you with a ring/siren or a vibrate.  Trapster uses a community of users (motivated by good karma) to tell you in real-time about Red Light Cameras, Police Car Hiding Spots, Speed Cameras and Live Cops.  Caution areas are tagged with confidence levels based on the number of people identifying various cameras or hiding spots.

For the rest of y'all, it also works on your Blackberry or Android smartphones, or even your Garmin or TomTom GPS.  Hell, it even sends texts messages for your regular phone.  And probably even on Zack Morris' phone.

Maybe I haven't convinced you to download this FREE app and maybe you enjoy getting expensive speeding or red light tickets, or maybe you just need to read more about Trapster - check out additional reviews here and here.

A Better iPhone Camera

Look at that zoom!

2 simple steps to transform your iPhone camera into a real workable digital camera.

Step 1: Download iFlashReady.
While it's not exactly a flash for your iPhone, it does help brighten photos at night and can let you take some shots you otherwise wouldn't have been able to take.

Step 2: Download Camera Zoom to give you the functionality you should've had when you dropped $299 or $399 on the phone itself.  It gives you a digital zoom of up to 4x and lets you see that far away pool ladder, since it was tough for you to see.  The app gives you a slider bar of sorts that allows you to zoom in and out of your shot.

Sure, they'll cost you $.99 cents each, but when's the last time you bought a digital camera for less than the price of a PBR at the pub?

How Did I Live Without the iPhone?

Finally picked up the new iPhone 3GS and it's slowly but surely taking over my life....in a good way...I think.

Going overboard and downloading applications right and left and looking for more.  Some that I've picked up:

Utility: WSJ, Bloomberg, Sunrise & Sunset, iFlash Ready, Flashlight, Dictionary, Flickr Sendr
Fun: Wooo Button, PBJ Time, Paper Toss
Entertainment: Yelp, Urban Daddy, Urban Spoon, Shazam, Pandora

What else should I pick up?
