The majority of us get free music in one way or another. Whether it's politely taking via BitTorrent, or downloading from some Russian website, or downloading music onto flash drives from friends. The latter 2 ways used to be my primary way of getting music. I felt a little bad about stealing via bittorrent, so instead I paid 10 cents a song from GoMusic.ru. Just made me feel better.
But when introduced to
Mojo from my roommate, I pretty much got hooked.
Mojo is without a doubt, the best free iTunes music sharing program. It allows you to easily access your friends' iTunes music libraries and with a double-click on a song, you're instantly moving that song into your library. It looks like iTunes, so you should already know how to use it (unless you're one of 42 people still using Winamp). When you're using it, the program greys out songs you already have and highlights ones in red that are copy-protected (damn protections)
Upside - tremendously easy to get music from friends you trust
Downside - Its tough to find your friends who have the service (you'll need to email them your username/password) and friends need to have the program open at the same time as you. But that's a small price to pay to get free music from friends who live 3,000 miles away.
